70th Anniversary of the End of WWII

Margaret Beckley Upton Memorial Concert Violin virtuoso Rachel Barton Pine will join us for a thought provoking and moving musical commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man will represent "The Greatest Generation," Beethoven's Violin Concerto will represent the deep culture subverted by the Axis regimes, and Shostakovich's Ninth Symphony will represent both the joy of victory and the sense of loss at it's human cost.
